Showcasing the leading names in Magento development, we were proud to have a member of Team Pinpoint on this year’s presenter line-up at Mage Titans 2018.

More than 240 Magento developers took over The Comedy Store in Manchester back in November to hear about the latest tools, best practice and problem-solving solutions.

Recognised as a Top 50 Magento Contributor worldwide, in front of a packed room, our very own Douglas Radburn covered the good, the bad and the ugly of previously tackling database schema updates in Magento 1 and 2.

His presentation “The Declarative Approach for Database Schema Upgrades in Magento 2” provided an overview of the new approach delivered by Magento 2.3, which launched in late November. Thanks to the 2.3 update, Developers are no longer required to write time consuming and complex script for database changes.
The final desired state of the database can now be declared without the need to manipulate the data one piece at a time. Allowing for easier to follow database definitions and better collaboration between teams, final, declarative database schema will be automatically adjusted without the need of redundant operations.
