Majestic SEO is one of many tools that we use for gathering backlinks pointing to competitors for both SEO and Google Penalty Recovery. In this short tutorial, we’ll show how you can download a complete list of your websites backlinks.
Start by visiting the http://www.majesticseo.com website and logging into your account. If you don’t have account, register a new one.
If you’re on a free account, you can run free reports by verifying your domains with your Google Webmaster Tools account. Just login to Majestic SEO profile and go to ‘Tools > Webmaster Tools”, type in your domain and click verify. If you’re unable to do this, then purchase a Majestic SEO subscription.
TIP: If you don’t have a Majestic SEO account available, head over to http://www.fiverr.com and search for ‘Majestic SEO’. On here, you’ll be able to pay for reports for only $5.00!
Once you’ve done the above, head to the homepage and type in your domain name and tick the box to use the ‘Historic Index’.
The Historic index includes all links that Majestic SEO have found throughout the history of your domain. Usually, this returns a huge number of links compared to any backlink checker, but it’s important we do this to ensure that we’ve got an accurate list of links pointing to your site.
A large number of the links will most likely be inactive / dead, but we would always recommend this for a penalty recovery campaign. Once done, click the search icon and wait for the next page to load.
On the next page, hover over the download link that appears on the right of the table and click to ‘Download All Backlinks‘.
This will then load another page where you just need to select ‘Build Download‘.
Majestic SEO creates all downloads a .gz files, so you’ll need a program to unzip files. Software such as ‘WinRAR’ will do the job for you.
It’s as easy as that!
